CEDA STORY: THE SCIENCE MUSEUM

The Bangkok Science Museum at Ekamai is one of the iconic buildings in Thailand with one key feature: the 15-meter cantilever auditorium seat in the front part of the museum. In 1981, CEDA worked alongside Dr. Sumet Jumsai na Ayudhya, a National Artist of Thailand, in creating the design. With limited structural depth, the design had to utilize all parts of the building for structure. Although the technology during that time was not as developed compared to today, the team was able to come up with an appropriate solution. The auditorium seats are used as a structure to transfer the loads to the three coned-shape columns.
